so i went to jeep and the parts guys are telling me that my jeep doesnt exsist. that in 95 they didnt have 97 parts to throw on. and was insisting that he gave me the wrong ol pan and asked for my vin again. then he told me to drive the jeep down. which is a great idea yet i brought the old oil pan with me so umm yea . so i finally told him order me a effing 97 oil pan and tomorow when it comes in you can feel like a moron, when i show you the difference. after its back together he told me to stop by with it bc he has never seen a yj with tj hinges or oil pans or anything. he also tried to tell me i have a different motor swaped in that how it has tj parts, but i guess when the swapped the motor they also swapped the hinges and everything else on it from yj to tj. god i hatee people

Parts guy's go by the computer and don't ever get to inspect them. I didn't know about the oil pan. Does your YJ run a TJ exhaust manifold too? The routing of the pipe is different too. From what I remember, the hinges on the 95.5 aren't exactly TJ. They're not YJ either. The windshield bumpers are a good sign of a 95.5 since they switched to the pucks and they're easy to spot. Sometimes the brake master is also a TJ part. You can spot the TJ one since it used a plastic reservoir. The booster on a TJ is also a dual-diaphram and is a bit longer but has a smaller dia. Then you got the front axles that probably use 297x series U-joints rather then the 260x series. The driveshaft usually uses a combo U-joint too, but that was picked up a few years earlier I think.
I don't like dealing with parts guy's. Only on the rare occasion do you get a good one. I use
www.partsamerica.com and pick-up in store. Some of their online prices are a lot cheaper then their in-store prices, too. The other nice thing is that they keep a record of all your orders so if you have something go bad on a Lifetime Warranty part, you're covered.
