possiblelity to becoem a trader.
« on: December 14, 2007, 09:01:45 PM »
ok so i have a chance to get a 1993 s10 for $200.. not that i need a new vehicles. but it has the 4.3lv6 and its a manual. so i instinctively thing.. hmm Ive always wanted to put a 4.3v6 in my jeep. my question is. should i go with the s10 trany and t case. or can/should i retain my jeep t case. basically are they strong enough to get the job done off road with the 4.3l or are they on the edge like the ax5 behind the 2.5l?  there is still one other person that has dibs on the truck before me(but he has to pay $400 instead of $200 (its good to have friends). but i also have to convince my dad about the whole idea and find a place to put it until our garage clears up. so its a chance i may or may not take.

Not sure what the manual trans is, but the T-case is a 231c. I've heard of a few people using the rear casing from the jeep's TC and making a "231c/j" to make it easier and cheaper to get a SYE kit. In a Jeep the 4.3L works well.

Beware though, the motor/trans combo is an absolute B*TCH to get out of the Blazer.

ya i own a 94(mydd) and every time i have to work on it its a pia because there is no room. i would probably pull the motor up and take the trany and t-case out the bottom. according to wikipedia it would have a NV3500. but from what i read in a motor swaping book there are like 3 versions of that trans, a light medium and heavy duty.

If you don't take it, I might even be interested.  That's a deal if the motor is in good running shape :)  The 94-95 is a lot better motor, but the 93 isn't too bad.

That would be a good donor to swap things into your Jeep, if you want to go to a 4.3, the stick will be a good trans, and the case is a np231c, the only real differences between your case and that case is that case has 6 planetaries to distribute the input torque better than the 3 in the Jeep case, other than that I think maybe the switch on the side of the case for the 4x4 light will be different but that should be easy to swap out for the current one you have in your case now, if it matters to you.

the 4x4 light on my jeep is all in the front axel disconnect.. the motor has a "small head gasket leak" so i would rebuild it.. but its still a hell of a deal considering we got a 4.3l and a computer from a blazer for that price and the motor wasn't in running order.

You will probubly have o make some kind of adjustment/replacement of the t-case switch to get it to activate your CAD.
