Thought I had "angry sparrows"
« on: December 15, 2007, 11:16:16 AM »
But then I realized it makes the sound when I'm parked. I'm thinking the noise is coming from the serpentine. Anyone have any suggestions. I haven't opened the hood yet to pinpoint the noise but I'm thinking it's the idler pulley. Kind of sounds like it's wheezing.

deep penetrating lube on the inside of the idler bearing, or replace it.
If its squeeling, its prob getting hot and not a good thing, try the spray and see if it helps for more than 20-30 min, if not replace it.

Does it happen when you start up?  Does it get louder when you turn the wheel to the steering stop?  Does it sort of die down when you're actually driving?

I'm thinking the belt loosened up a bit.  Otherwise it could be a bearing on the idler, alternator, PS pump, etc...

I haven't had time to track it down yet. It's intermittent though. Comes and goes just like that...with no known reason. I'm hoping to get to it this coming weekend.
