To answer my own question, TBI engines use the same sort of Crank Position Sensors as MPFI engines. This is bad news for my 700R4 conversion, as it means that if the Hesco harmonic balancer CPS won't fit the 2.5, then I'm dead in the water. I'd just have to put the 700R4 under the bench until I can do the V-6 conversion. Trouble is, I'd have to swap the engines back and forth every 2 years to get thru emissions. Not impossible, I guess, particularly if you plan to do that in advance, but not something that I'd look forward to....
