Topic: Any one got experience with a full cage in a TJ?

Just 2 spots not welded?  I still think that they used the stock TJ bolt on brackets on the main hoop rather than welding the front hoops to the main hoop.   "It was done by a shop" always makes me laugh.  Depends on the shop doing the work. 

The red circles are the 2 spots Jeffy is talking about.   The yellow one is the one that concerns me, because it looks like a big shortcut by whoever built that front cage.

I agree those look like stock flanges.  It would have been OK if the bolts passed all the way though and were sleeved but those don't look like it.

I plan on welding the two red circle up and the brackets in the yellow are welded on (plus the stock bolts and the new tube is welded to the male piece that is part of the bracket.  Shortcut yes but still stronger than stock. Funny how when one asks for input on this board all they get is critisism?  Jeffy I expect it out of you but Oldjeep this new for you (pretty sure you jumped my chit last Q I had).  My question wan't tell me everything wrong with this cage.  While I would expect some suggestions, this is just silly.  I did get some good ideas from you but now your just beating a dead horse.  I have gotten what I need to know from other sources, thanks anyways.

I've seen several cages fail, so if I see something that looks messed up I say something about it.

It's called constructive criticism.  If you're going to post anything on the internet you're gotta expect good and bad.  I'd take the bad and focus on those area so you can improve them.  This is safety equipment you're talking about so you should be buying the best you can afford.

Went and picked up the cage a few days ago and all the spots of concern are welded and the welds are pretty good.  They are either really great welds or good welds, almost like two people did it but none are horrible.  Everything is better than I expected for $250.  I will add a bar above the dash and hopefully get it in next month (turkey season and I haven't been hardly at all so the Jeep goes on the waiting list).

Holy Chit!!! I can't believe I bought this that long ago!!!  Finally got it installed and it worked out great will get some pics up soon.  Was easy to install, had been built in a TJ so it went in good.  Eye balled drilling the holes in the dash and it was almost dead on.  One is center and one is just barely touching.  1.75 tube and a 2" hole, was ready to drill larger ones.  Took a page out of Oldjeeps thread and sprayed it with bed liner, cool stuff.  Coolest looking $250 mod I've done.

Only issue was I had to disconect the passenger side ac tube.  Anyone know an easy way to put a flex tube in or where to buy one?  Thanks, Chris.
