lift question
« on: April 08, 2008, 09:29:18 PM »
currently i have a rc 4" susp. lift. im looking into gettin an SOA and was wondering if it would be too much lift to transfer the 4" up top the axle? that should give me around 9-10 inches of lift right ? or should i go another route with the springs like getting a 1.5 or 2" spring to use for this soa kit?

4" springs and SOA would be too much lift, the Jeep would be unstable.  It's better to get stock springs with an extra leaf or some aftermarket springs with just a bit of lift.

4" lift with an SOA is HUGE.  I've seen a YJ with a 4" Pro-Comp lift and a SOA and it looked like crap.  It's just way too much lift.  Not to mention any flex advantage is lost on those leafs.

I know of a guy who did it, and then took a leaf out of the suspension pack to improve flexing.  Jeep was WAAAAY up there (he had a very hard time getting into the Jeep, so he decided to take out a leaf; he says he likes it that way, but I am not too sure about how good it really is).

I would defenetely not recommend going that route, though.  I would stick with stock or very small lift springs to keep the springs as flat as possible and allow for greater flexing.

alright so im gonna go with a RE SOA and 1.5" springs, now with my 1" bl i should be around 8" of lift: what tire size could i run comfortably? should i just stay with 35s or bump up to 37s ?

If your drive train (and pocket) can handle it, I would go for 37...  You will certainly be able to clear them!
