I really don't think you need a hotter ignition system, especially with such short plug wires. I bet a dyno test would show little or no actual gains. The chip probably just adds a little ignition timing. Too bad we can't just advance the distributor and get more timing that way.
Before I put the turbo on, I added an electric fan, 4.0L throttle body with the intake ported, K&N, Ford 19# injectors, and a better exhaust system. It made a slight, but noticeable difference. By no means was it anything close to even peppy though. :)
