A while back I picked up a new starter for the Jeep. When I installed it I found that the drive gear was a different size, although the tooth count was the same. The new drive gear was 1 1/4". Seems like it's a 1/4" larger than the o.e. drive gear. It wasn't a problem because I took the old drive gear from the o.e. starter and placed it on the new starter and everything worked fine. Question is... what vehicles would have used this larger drive gear? I'm sure it has to do with a different size flexplate but other than that I have no idea what vehicles used what.
Here's the gear that
didn't fit.
