Another tire/wheel/lift combo question
« on: August 31, 2008, 06:24:11 PM »
Greetings all,
I have looked over all the threads and I think I have the answer, but gonna ask just to make sure.  I bought a new 06 Jeep SE in 2007 and now it is time to start the upgrades in regards to tire/wheel/lift combination.  This is my first jeep so I will probaly have even more annoying, extremely basic questions later on.  I like the Stage I build in the Quadratec catalog, so with a 4 banger, 6 speed manual, 3.73 gears, would it be realistic to fit 31 x 10.5 tires on my stock 15x7 wheels and not have to change the gearing?  Also, I am thinking about the 2 inch space lift, but can I get away without a lift?  And how is performance going to be affected.

I use the Jeep as a daily driver (all city speeds), also, to get to my deer stand, and trailer my ATV's and dirtbikes to the trails.

Have a great one,

The answer is yes it will run fine with 31x10,5 tires on 15x7 rims, without a lift I ran my 2006 SE like that for awhile.  Articulation was fine, I lifted it to get the big shovel underneath further away from the ground. On late model TJ,s that thing hangs darn near on the ground. Running it with the stock gearing makes you want to shift in and out of 6th gear more but its definitely do able
