engine swap question

I'am wanting a 6 cylinder jeep so it will handle lift with 35 inch tires better.I'am trying to sell my yj to buy one later this winter but am having no luck with the economy the way it is.How hard would it be to just swap a 6 cylinder into mine and what do I need as far as donor parts?Also thought about a 5.0 fuel injected mustang engine as I have a few of those here what would I need and if anyone has done it how difficult.I know chevys are easier to put in one but I'am not a chevy man so I will never put one in my jeep.Or is it gonna be cheaper just to keep trying to sell it.

I was thinking about doing the same swap myself.  I've got a wrecked 92' Mustang GT that would be a perfect donor car.  I think I'm going to go with the 5.0 with a AX15 5sp behind it.  The 5.0 will have alum. heads on it, so the total weight will only be aprox 50lbs more than the 4cyl. in it now, just lots more power  :thumbsup:

ax-15 and 4.0 wouldn't be too hard, it's been done alot... google it and you'll have plenty of info.

The 5.0 has been done before too, but is nice and unique, and significantly harder... sorry I can't help much!

There's a response in JP Mag this month about that....they say it is cheaper to just sell your rig and by a used 4.0...it is not a drop in in their opinion.  I agree in a sense, but sometimes the deals some people get on engines/trannys is too good to pass up IMO.
2009 Audi S5....what....its 4wd...sort of....

Also, if you have a lot of $ invested in mods it would be cheaper to do the swap rather than sell the Jeep with mods (at a loss) and then buy a stock Jeep with a 4.0 and then have to do the mods all over again.  It might work out rather well if you can afford to buy the 4.0 Jeep (of the same type, YJ or TJ) before selling the Jeep with mods.  You could then swap things over and then sell the 4 banger as a stock Jeep.

I figured it may be cheaper just to buy one already with a inline 6 cylinder so I may just try and do that.Or just lift this one and put 31's or 32's on it and just deal with the power loss.Its not like its got a ton of power now.

I agree; mods lose value really fast, so you can get the same for cheap.  I bought a friend of mine a '94 Sahara with ALL kinds of goodies (33" BFG MT's, Mean Grean Alternator, 4" RE lift, lift shackles - I personally dont like that, but they came with the rig, OX locker, bumpers, rockers, winch, snorkel, flex-a-lite fan, aluminum rad, optima battery, aux lights, Borla headers and exhaust, etc.) for about about $6K last year...  If I where to put all that in my rig, I would spend at least $5 or $6K (I put some of those, as a matter of fact).  And he's been wheeleing it for about 2 years now with no issues...
