Wheel fitment?
« on: November 30, 2008, 04:07:49 PM »
I was in the desert this weekend at my wife's parents river house and a guy was selling a set of 5 33x12.50 BFG M/T and rims off of his 1980 CJ7 that he rolled and totaled.

So can those mount to a 97TJ or is it a different bolt pattern? $400 is what he wants.

Also what are the factory axles on an 80 CJ7 good for he said he will let the set go for $300 what if any use do these have in jeep aplications?

CJ 5 on 5.5" vs TJ 5 on 4.5"

Stock axles are probably a Dana 30 and a Model 20 or maybe Dana 44.  Too narrow for your TJ.  You're looking at 56" vs 60.5".

Different pattern.  CJ's are 5 on 5.5   XJ/YJ/TJ are 5 on 4.5.

CJ7 axles are going to be a cj style D30 front and an AMC20 in the rear.   Neither is of any use to you.  The front diff is on the wrong side

Thanks I think I will try to get the five tires from him for $350 and hold on to the rims, when I get a CJ5.

33x12.50 will fit on a 15x8 rim right? I think when i bought them i made sure they would fit 33's.

Yup 8" rim is perfect for a 12.5" wide tire.
