When you drill stuff like that, just put a paint stir stick on top of it and drill through the stick and the plastic. It's the easiest way to drill any sort of thin material.
I was cheap and didn't want to drill through my paint stick. I should have used a wooden block that had some holes already drilled into it but was lazy. Took only a few seconds and there was no blood involved.
