The stock driveshaft is 14 and change which hasn't been a problem for me.  I'm still running the stock shaft with the rear jacked up.  I've got the skidplate lowered but I suspect I could raise it but I got lazy and winters setting in.  All I got done was fabricating some brackets and rebuilding a wire harness.  Only problem, the lights bounce on the brackets.  So I've got to make them out of some steel. But that's anotehr project, another day. :roll: 
I wouldn't be able ot put the shifter where you have it.  I've got a large console in the middle.  So the shifter will need to be located with the other shifters.  It does look tacky though.  I wonder if I could make a propper shifter though.
