junkyard info
« on: March 09, 2009, 03:55:55 PM »
I have a 95YJ 2.5auto.
What years am Ilooking for on XJ to snag a 4.0TB from? obviously not the one with 3 bolts. Is there a year identifier on the xj vin. Am i just grabbing the TB or do I need to make sure the sensors are there. The search the forum on this is quite crowded a link to a write up wld be great thanks.

I may be looking into an 8.8 upgrade as well. 3.73/disc brakes and LSD. What year explorer? I figure I will be turning the wheel for the ratio but is there a vin identifier for year or LSD. Isnt there another vehicle that comes with that ratio, disc, and LSD. Link to write up would be great.

Master cylinder...Is it the grand marqui...what year(vin id), does it bolt right in or is there a booster I have to grab. Or is there another option or upgrade to look for. Links welcome.

Anything else to lok for. gonna hold off on the fan for a bit.

4.0TB is from ANY 4.0 91+, 96+ will require plugging some MAP sensor holes, but as long as you swap everything but the TB over from your 2.5, it should be fine.

I'm pretty sure the tag "d4" will have 3.73 and LSD, check the inside lip of the front drivers door for it... D2 I believe is 4.10's and LSD... of course my information is subject to being wrong!

Not sure on the master cylinder, sorry... to anyone else; correct me if I'm wrong!

I just cut out an 8.8 from a '97 Exploder.  The tag was 3L73 for limited slip 3.73.  Make sure you get '95 and up - disc brakes in the rear.

'78 Grand Marquis with 4whl disc and hydroboost.  Also consider a proportioning valve from a late-model Grand Cherokee with 4whl disc.

Don't waste your time with a 4.0L TB: http://4bangerjp.com/forums/index.php/topic,4044.0.html
