removing front windows
« on: March 22, 2009, 02:14:41 PM »
Hey guys, I did a search and came up with nothing. Currently I ripped out basicly everything to get the front windows out to tint them but after I removed the 2 screws that hold the window on track, I can't slide them out anyway.  Anyone know the trick to getting them out?
Thanks, Jeff

Can I assume these to be the full door windows?

Most of the time, you have to remove the felt around the outer window channel in the window door frame. The window should fit within 1/8-1/4" of the window opening in the door. The felt fills this cavity as well as aligns the window when you go up/down. Not sure if the top pulls outward or inward when you lift up to pull the window glass all the way out.

But why do all this when the tint will be along the window edge of the felt? You will have the space from the felt on top of the window but that is really nothing. The tint is added to the window pane while still in the door. Its 'watered' on, pressed to clean out air bubbles, let to dry, and cut to fit to the felt.

Well Jag, thanks for the input but I have tinted countless windows and these are a pain in the ass to get tucked in properly on the weather stripping on the sides. It doesnt want to go, so I took the door pannel off and took the window out but can not get it all the way out. And yes these are full doors. I'm thinking I have to take off the triangle piece towards the windshield but can't figure out if it just slides out after I take the 2 screws out of if I have to do something special. I don't want to break anything so if someone could help me I would really appriciate it.
Thanks, Jeff

Hi Taken from the FSM

FULL DOOR GLASS
REMOVAL
(1) Remove the door trim panel and the waterdam.
(2) Pull the door glass run channel from the door
sail.
(3) Roll glass fully downward.
(4) Remove the door sail panel (Fig. 27) and (Fig.
28).
(5) Roll glass 1/4 upward to access regulator arm
guide.
(6) Remove the screws that attach the regulator
arm guide to the glass.
(7) Lift the glass upward while tilting inward and
remove from the door.

Hope that helps
