Hey guys I have a 93 Jeep with a 4 cyc that I use as a rock crawler only rig.  I can drive it on the street if I have to but with 37" boggers I perfer not to.

Anyway I found your site looking for some good info on adding some power to the 4 cyc as I have an extra 4 cyc that I am going to build.  I'll post picuters later.

Yep that is the thread I found on Google and I've read the whole thing.  I have a spare 2.5 I am thinking about putting in a 1 seater buggy.

I turbocharged my 2.5L you mite want to look into forced induction for yours with rubber like that.

I'm running 37's as well. (MT/R's) granted the boggers weight alot more. But, with 5.38's in the axles it does real well. The only upgrades I have done is the 62mm TB reamed the intake to 62mm. And a Rock-it city air intake tube with a K&N. No problems with doing 70-75 MPH. Only on the steepest grades do I have to get down to 3rd gear.
Proper gearing will give you the most bang for the buck as far as peformance goes IMO. But is sounds like your not looking for more get up and go on the street. For rock crawling a second T-case like a Klune or a Altas 4 speed or Mad Rooster box will give you plenty of gear choices for crawling.

How rude of me, I should have spec'ed out my Jeep.  I'll post some pictures tonight or tomorrow.

NP 231 with a 300 Doubler.  I have a 135 to one crawl ratio
Front Waggy 44 with 4.88 Detroit Locker.
Rear Ford 8.8 with 4.88 Detroit Locker.
37" boggers
Fuel Cell
WRF Bead locks
WRF Tube Fenders
WRF Roll cage
WRF Siders

I actually have no complaints about this motor and I really don't need any more power.  I can drive it on the street but don't.  I have a guy that is giving me a running 2.5 and I wanted to see what kind of power I could get out of it.  Then I may through it in the jeep and build the one I have in it now for a buggy.

Nice set up. Who's doubler kit is that? Mad Rooster?
Guessing by the crawl ratio number that you are running the 2.7 in the 231 and the 2.6 in the 300.
What part of the country are you from?

building the 2.5 is not that hard just takes time to find all the parts(lack of 2.5 parts offered)  /  forced induction is ok but for a crawler you dont want to deal with a turbo spooling/  you need the power to be right there when you hit it/  a supercharger would be ok but i built my motor for half that and probably got the same power
