I don't know what the worlds smallest violin measures. Way smaller than that Dobro. It's OAL is 13.5 inches.
I used jewelery wire for the strings. I hope she don't break one. I strung it before I welded the back on. It would be a real pain to try and re-string.

You could have strung it like a real guitar.  So instead of having the tuner nuts on the side of the head, have them in the back.  Or else have extra bolts com up from the back of the head in addition to the tuner nuts.  Tap the head and drill a hole through the bolt.  Twist the bolt will wrap the wire around it.  For teh other end you jsut need a plate with some holes then add a lead slug to the end or something so it can't get pulled through.

Good idea. I did use a bead to keep the string from coming though.

That thing must weigh a ton.  Those ring gears are heavy.  I was thinking about making a D44 ring gear into a clock until I actually held one.

Bathroom scale said 26#. That is 3/16 plate too  :whistle: They made things to last back in the day!

Here is the 2 cylinder motor. It was a 170 cubic inch motor with around 20HP. In 1940 they switched from a 3 speed tranny to a 6 speed.

I just entered these in the Ventura County Fair. It runs Aug 3-14 in Ventura Ca. The Rooster is entered as a outdoor sculpture and the JD tractor as a indoor sculpture. First time I have ever done this sorta thing.

I've won regional ribbons for a few things I've made.  I even got a plaque.  Was asked to do the state fair but I didn't bother.
