glad to hear it is working for you; what speakers are you using? That is one of the critical points for a radio... (in fact, the best improvement in sound from a stock radio will come from new speakers, not a new main unit) If you are not, try installing a pair of 6X9 speakers in the rear, and it will give you betterbase sound (of course, a subwoofer unit would be the best option!).
I'm not exactly running a stock stereo these days
These are the coax's I'm running in my doors, Hertz Hi Energy 5.25" coax
http://www.audison.de/hertz/high_energy/hcx130.html gonna add some 6.5's in either some box's behind my seats, or perhaps a soundbar someday down the road.
Powering the speakers: audison SRx2, my model is a couple years old and looks different
http://www.audison.eu/index_main.php?Section=SRX2Subs: Hertz Energy ES250 D DVC 10's
http://www.raysmith.co.uk/HERTZ/ES250D3/ In a downfiring box that's sposed to go behind the back seat I don't have
Powering the subs: Street Edge (Memphis Audio's new, "affordable" lineup) SEI.250 Mono block

I'm running this older AudioControl signal processor
https://myeporia.eporia.com/resources/company_38/ESP2_OM.pdfThe Pioneer I had, no offense Mr. Sony
Had better overall sound IMO, cleaner low response (this was before I had the subs), and definitely cleaner mids/highs. But it went out three times on me in less than a year and a half. The last time the shop just gave me a replacement instead of sending mine in, and that one went out too. So that's when I got the Sony. The signal processor cleaned them up pretty well though. Every now and then I get a wild hair up my ass and decide to try and tweak it to sound better, but it sounds pretty damn good where it's at. The Hertz coax's are a bit pricey (About $200/pair for the 5.25's) but sound great, and compared to other more expensive speakers they ROCK. A buddy of mine just installed some $800 Focal components in his Super Duty a couple weeks ago and while they sound great, I still think my coax's outperform his once the volume gets cranked up
The subs sound great too. Had them for about 9 months now and haven't had a problem. I listen to mostly rock, metal, and some hip-hop, they perform great regardless of what I listen to. They can really shine with something hard and fast like system of a Down, and can still have TONS of punch for a couple 10's when listening to something with deep bass. Oh, I like the Ipod interface off the Sony deck too. A bit slow, but still nice being able to plug into my deck, have it charge, and it sounds much better than an AUX input or FM transmitter thingy.
My favorite sub that I've had to date though was an Image Dynamics ID12V3, that was THE BEST sounding sub I've ever had, I wish I'd never gotten rid of it, I'd prolly still have it today. Had a pair of Arc Audio KAR series 12's in high school that got jacked, that was a sad day too
