It's your plan and not more of a critique but more of suggestions of other things to think about.
Here's what I do, assuming it's in good running condition already, has good seats, seat belts, fire extinguisher, cb, etc.
- SOA with stock springs or add in waggy rear springs from JCWhitney and match front with lift springs; work with length of spring to add correct length shackles and shocks
- t-case SYE, possibly lower low or another t-case all-together (ie. flipped 300)
- switch to 33x9.5's MTs on stock 15" rims, or 35x10.5's MT on better offset 16" rims (switch to 16" rims for potentially more variety on taller tires in metric sizes - tall&skinny)
- posi-lock the front and rid of the vacuum disconnect (or rid of the disconnect and run single axle shaft)(does the 94 come with 297x joints?)
- gears to match tire choice; if locking front, lock rear also, lunchbox lockers (Aussie, LR, EZ, etc)
- flat belly skid
- add winch and better frame hook points, add front cage hoop, add rock sliders
To each his own. I'd start with a good foundation on the suspension. This is the heart of knowing what tires/wheels you are going to use, how you are going to use the YJ most of the time (mostly on road, etc), and it's a stepping process to learn the weaknesses and positives of the YJ. After the suspension and tires, gears/(lockers) are added to compensate the tires. Once that is done, look at safety items (cage) as you will want to test the suspension, gears, lockers, and tires out. Next would come better protection for the Jeep in situations of wheeling - thus skid plate, rock sliders, frame recovery mounts, winch, etc. The rest is either much of convenience or preference like tool boxes, spare parts, console, swing tire carrier, etc.
Do know that modifying a YJ on stock suspension, axles, etc you will be addicted to bigger and better things. Sometimes, what you plan on modifying will come as a necessary earlier than planned due to breaking. So take that into consideration. (Meaning the axles, axle shafts, lockers, joints, etc).
Good luck.
BTW, know anyone in the PAJeeps club? They have lots of YJ in the club with a variety of lifts. Back several years ago, Rubicon Express put out the SOA for the YJ. Lots of them ran that with the 33x9.5 MT on stock rims. Work really well in the PA trails.
