Soft top frame webbing
« on: October 21, 2009, 03:59:56 PM »
It was time to replace my pavement ends soft top(had it for three years) and since quadratec is having a sale, I figured I would splurge and get a bestop(replace a top) with tinted windows and upper doors 499$ plus tax . I installed it and forgot about a small problem I've had with the frame. The right rear corner sags a bit and I think it's from the webbed strap that goes from the middle bow to the rear bow. It's the original frame on my 97 TJ. There aren't any other problems with the hardware so there's no reason to replace the whole thing.  I was hoping to see if anybody had tightened up that strap somehow. Any ideas would be appreciated.

i have a YJ and an aftermarket softtop so not familiar with the stock TJ one, but take some pictures of the problem and i'm sure you'll get some suggestions and who knows maybe a couple of good ones in there.

If it has the original TJ frame then why encounter that type of problem...
I believe that Quadratec based their soft tops on stock frames for it to fit well...
It was probably something that the previous owner might have done. The frame might have gotten slightly bent or something. When I bought the jeep the original tan soft top was in really bad shape so there was really no way for me to tell if things were misaligned.

As far as posting pics -- I'm gonna have to set up a photobucket account.  Maybe by the weekend.
