So an acquaintance of mine knows I'm into Jeeps and asks me to take a look at one for him. An 88 YJ on the the lot at Husher Car Co. near me for $5k. I told him it's a bit high but he insisted it was really nice so I had a look on Sat. Some of the scum in the used car business continues to amaze me. This is what I found.

I didn't even look at the floors. I asked the guy WTF? and he says it's on the sticker that it had rust on the frame. I started to respond and he walked away from me.

that is unbelievable - that guy should be reported to BBB and DMV or whoever regulates these things - it's not even safe to be towed not to mention driven.

I'd love to, but who would I contact? BBB only deals with you if you've already made a purchase IIRC.

give DMV a call they should know - that guy should have his dealer license revoked - what an a$$hole, think of someone driving away with his kid in that vehicle, man.

I sent an Email to the local news station's "consumer report" guy. See if they have any interest in this.

"Frame and Floor Rusty" is a bit of an understatement.  It's a lawsuit waiting to happen.  Kind of surprising they would even bother listing 'rusty'.

Those patch panels sure aren't pretty.  I think the guy (I forget who it was) on the forum did a nicer job.

As long as the dealer discloses the problems and condition of the vehicle on the Wisconsin Buyers Guide (the white disclosure form), it is legal to sell a vehicle that way (as long as the customer knows ahead of time what they are buying).

hmm, i guess the question is if mentioning rust is the same with missing 3 feet of frame due to rust - well, he mentioned rust so i guess he got himself covered from that perspective - curious to see if they will look into it more and what the result will be.
