Those patch panels sure aren't pretty.  I think the guy (I forget who it was) on the forum did a nicer job.

I didn't see it.
These are the only guy's I know of that has a kit.
I sure am glad we don't have rust issues here!

The dealer should get this to fix it.

Can't imagine what the floors look like. Maybe like a Flintstone car? ???

I guess there is some hope for that poor Jeep!

You would think that used car lot would lose customers selling cars like that.  Is it a new lot or has it been around for a while?

They are $80 for one side or $150 a pair. They may not be the prettiest but it's better than what's on there now. They say an hour to install but there is no way it would only take an hour to do one side.
The body looks to be in real nice shape. Damn cancer!

It looks a bit better than it is because this place makes most of their money as a porter detailing for other businesses. They are extremely good at polishing a turd. There was a small bit of rust in the corners.

They have been around longer than I have been alive. It was the area Olds dealer until they were phased out & then switched to all used.

Although we try to be very accurate in all of are ads the occaisional mistake may occur.

Maybe the forgetting to mention that the frame was rotted out was one of the mistakes that may occur, I also noticed that it says it has new brake lines and fuel lines probably cause the old ones rusted out too... I would think climbing inside would brake the frame

Go for a test drive and hit every pot hole, speed bump, take turns tight, etc. Bring your cell phone so that you can call them to come pick up the leaning Jeep that appears not to drive correctly on the street.

Before you go, make sure whose insurance covers any problems found during a test drive. Also, if you do loose control and get yourself involved in an accident.

Im assuming they wouldn't let him take it for a test drive after his encounter with them. They know he's not gonna buy it. haha

Just ... Wow.

I can't believe that stealership would have the audacity to put that Jeep on the lot in that condition. Then again...

I decided almost immediately that I wanted a YJ and not a TJ or a CJ. The first YJ I looked at was on a stealership lot. It was in good shape. The salesman told me that if I put $100 on it he would hold it for a week, so I did. Week went by, I got my tax return, called, and he had sold it right out from under me. I was absolutely pissed that day. The very next day I'm driving down the road and I see my Jeep sitting on the side with a for sale sign in the window. I test drove it and bought it that day. They wanted $1,000 more for the lot Wrangler than what I paid for my Rio Grande, and it was just a base model 4-cyl/5-spd Wrangler. That lot Wrangler also had 40,000 more miles on it than the one I ended up getting. It had a 2" budget boost and 33's but no other mods. The one I ended up buying has a 2" Black Diamond lift and BFG 31's, Carr Rota lightbar, Bestop Trailmax console, and 4 PIAA daylighters. High-quality stuff, all for a grand less. What luck, huh?

Seeing this thread, I'm glad I ended up buying from a private seller. The guy was brutally honest about every little flaw in the Jeep. It was a totally no-BS purchase for me.

hmm, i guess the question is if mentioning rust is the same with missing 3 feet of frame due to rust - well, he mentioned rust so i guess he got himself covered from that perspective - curious to see if they will look into it more and what the result will be.

wouldnt that be similar to false advertising?  i mean its not just "rusty" it is just plain rust for several feet, and that vehicle should and would not pass state inspections....

good thing you looked at it for you friend.... I would hate to see the axle fall off and someone flip into the ditch and get hurt...

i too purchased my jeep private from a brutally honest guy. he assured me she ran just fine with no problems..and that he just didnt take her out often enough to justify keeping her...proven by the barely 500 miles he had put on her in a year and a half of ownership.  he even took me for a ride in her and drove it to my house to do the paper work..the honest man even dropped $500 lower than his asking price and even let me claim what i wanted as far as the sale price on the bill of sale. 4 days later the engine blew. he had cracked the head and didnt wanna mess with it and dumped his garbage onto me. and this poor student earned himself a crash course in mechanic 101 with the purchase of a long block funded by my already thin wallet. im never buying a vehicle privately again..unless it's from a family member or a close friend..that way i know where to find them if something goes wrong and i feel screwed. dealership all the way...at least i get some kind of warranty. then beat the piss out of it for a week so whatever is about to break, breaks and gets replaced under warranty lol. jk. Ya can get screwed in any type of vehicle purchase..private or dealership.

not to be a jerk but there are a few things you can look at to find damage like that.  the previous owner may have never even known..... anyhow my point is you can be screwed by anyone dealer or private.... but sorry to hear your misfortune though, glad you did get her back rolling under her own power..

i would call the state troopers to go have a look at it although it might be totally legal to sell a vechicle in that condition i seriously doubt that it is legal to sell an unsafe vechicle as a daily driver that could cause not only an accident but possibly kill someone with the person not even knowing that their vechicle was unsafe to drive

Some people do shitty things and in my opinion he should have to drive that thing cross country and what he cant make in the jeep he should have to walk
