Metal valve cover

A friend of mine has a 90 W/ 2.5L and is looking for a metal valve cover. I snooped around a bit and did not see any metal ones, lots of plastic thou.
Does it exist?

My 94 has a cast Aluminum stock valve cover. So maybe check wrecking yards?

when i got my 1990yj it had a cracked valve cover and couldn't find a metal one so i settled for a plastic one.. but for some reason the dealer couldn't' get my the correct gr-omits for the pcv system (after like 4 tires i gave up and used silicon to fill the gap in the wrong grommet.) they would either get a grommet that fit the valve cover or one that fit what goes into the valve cover... if i had to do it again id get a metal one for the 1991+ and change the pcv system over (shouldn't realy be that different or effect the fuel injection as long as you have air in and out.

The +91's do not use a PCV system.

What would it take to make the 91 and newer work on the 90 and older?
Anyone have a PIC of the 90 style?

TORCH: that is what he is looking for. Seems there is the question if it will work with the TBI VS. MPFI.

This is the best picture i have and doesn't realy show the contoures of it.. jut what sticks out of it...

looking at pictures and part numbers on autozone.com comparing 1990 to 1991, I found that they have different part numbers (but the 1990 was a rubber gasket and the 1991 was cork rubber  :confused:) the pictures do look like the shape is slightly different (more ins and outs with the metal one) if that can be trusted. :confused:

I had issues with leaks and called felpro's tech line.

Wonder of wonders I ended up talking to a guy who knew his stuff, and was a YJ owner.

There are 4 different 2.5 liter valve cover gaskets. 2 plastic and 2 metal cover variants.

You have to look at teh cover, teh key difference is whether the cover has pinch points near the bolts.

The 91+ valve cover has the extra fitting for the metered breather fitting. The early one has a PCV can.
With some minor adjustments they should interchange.

What are you seeing that looks different? Just curious... Cause all 2.5 use the same head.

One has 3 holes the other only 2. I would imagine it would bolt to the head. What do you do about adding a hole? Just drill it, it looks pretty large.

You mean the holes for the hoses and such? or the mounting holes?

On a MPI you have a breather connection and a fitting for crankcase metered breathing. (CCV is a small brass fitting like 1/4 inch on side of cover.)

On the TBI you should have a breather and PCV valve. (PCV and Breather are like 3/4 in holes on top of cover.)

You might be able to find a Breather cap to replace the oil filler cap and use the original breather for the PCV valve?

I might be missing one,,, What do you see on yours?
