Topic: removing bumperettes ?

  Got new bumpers,decided to start with the rear, any tricks to getting to the nuts (closest to center of jeep) on the backside?My big paws and tight working room had me vic'ed out earlier.

cut with torches if you can't get them to turn

  I had the bolts turning,but need to get ahold of the nuts (spinning freely) torches was my first thought but dont own,and need a trick to remove without dropping the gas tank

Cutoff wheel in a grinder works fine too

You can use a box wrench or a socket with a universal to get the nuts out.

I didnt need to but the grinder and some cut off wheels have become good friends of mine...lol

Any time you're limited with angle of contact or angle of entry, you can always use a sawzaw with a bimetal blade.  In this case, since the bolt would probably spin, grab it with a pair of vicegrips first and hack away.

I use a socket extention with a universal to get to those.
When I had my gas tank out the last time I notched the crossmember so I could get to those a bit easier.

  I ended up using a grinder and a cutoff wheel ,the wrench worked on 2 of the inside nuts(stubby) but the other side wasnt wanting to work.And then notched the  crossmember so I could get something behind there easier and bolt through, into the new bumper.Just got in after finishing up,pretty cold out there, anyways thanks guys for the input, helped out alot

Second on the sawzall, that's how I got mine.

They can be reached with a regular open end wrench.  For putting the bolts back in just tape the nut to the wrench and put it in place.

I have been able to reach back there with a wrench...
