Will these injectors work for my TJ?
« on: January 11, 2010, 08:40:54 PM »
I found an affordable set of 8 Ford injectors. These are FoMoCo part #F1TE-D5A.

They are 24 lbs injectors but I am not certain if these will work for my 1997 TJ with a 2.5L?

Please help me out because i cant find whether they will work or not...and i have to decide and let my friend know whether ill take them or not since he does have someone else looking to get them.

They should. They are 24.25 # per hour at 39 PSI.
Just make sure the connectors are CV-1 Other wise you will need adapters (4) about $8.00 each to make them work.

I'd have to see them to tell what design they are. All plastic should be III. A fat metal body would be II.

But nonetheless, they are not the design I with the single pintle like our stockers?

I just want to make sure that these will be an upgrade over stock...

i'm not sure if they are the ones you want - i found them rated at 24.25lb/hr at 39.15 psi  - on your TJ with the 49psi fuel pressure that means they will flow 27.13lb/hr, compare that to the stock rating of 23.2 makes it about 17% more - you will end up with about 11.5AFR at wot which is way too low. but that's just my opinion, you can try but i say they're too big. I also found the bosch equivalent for these (p/n 280 150 947) and they are rated at 25.3lb/hr at 43.5 psi, pretty much same rating as the fomoco one (0.2lb/hr difference at 43.5 psi between the 2), so that leads me to think that the rating is fairly accurate in both cases

Whoops, I didn't know the TJ had 49 PSI. I'd have to agree they are a bit big.

tthose come to 24.05lb/hr at 49psi (rated at 21.5@39.15psi) => 3.66% more flow - these would work. one thing i cannot be sure about, since their rating is at 39 psi if they atomize properly at 49 psi. Most injectors do just fine but if you read the manufacturer's warnings some specify the max pressure at which the injector is guaranteed to work within specs, i have no idea if these are ok at 49 psi (but like i said, should be fine). I would do a visual check before installing them with the injectors on the rail and activate them one at a time so you can see the spray pattern, if they squirt rather than creating a fine mist then they won't work.

apparently they are 28 lb/hr, so no go. the other ones you posted were ok, so go for those - for $35 you can't go wrong, if they won't work you didn't spend a fortune on ford motorsport injectors.

I dont really wanna mess with a set that im not a 100% sure on because i am trying to solve some fuel issues im having with the Tj so i want to be CERTAIN that everything  replace is in working order so that i can hunt down the culprit of my fuel issues.

Im going step by step and covered spark and ruled it out so I attacking fuel now.

I have gas puddling in the intake and some rough idling so i am assuming its a leaky injector so i am starting there.

I guess i have to keep searching...i am still waiting on one more part # off a different fomoco set, if those dont work....

I might just get a set of used stock injectors off of a 2000 4 banger for $30

Pull the leaky one and see if it's just a bad O ring.

I have no idea which one is leaking.

Im not even a 100% certain that one is leaking but when i pull the intake ducting off and open the TB, you can smell gas in the manifold and i can touch when i stick my fingers into the TB...

Thats what makes me assume that the injectors are no good...and that one of them leaks and is allowing for gas to puddle in the intake and cause the poor idle...
