19# injector problem

well im sure you guys have heard all the problems, but i couldnt find mine with the search
i got a set of ford 19# injectors, they work great, until i tighten the fuel rail down, then they leak from the top

my initial idea is that maybe i need a washer or 2 under the rail to keep it from getting all the way tight, but i'm gonna see what you guys have to offer first

its a 97 2.5l if the year makes a difference

it does make a difference: 19# injectors are the wrong size for your motor, you need bigger ones - don't drive it with these on. These injectors are fine for the 91-95 mpfi engines.

EDIT: when i say bigger I mean more fuel flow and not the physical dimensions, you will end up with your mixture too lean. 19 is the flow in lb/hr, your engine's PCM requires 23.2lb/hr at 49psi.

ok, what engines am i gonna find the higher psi injectors
im already running too lean with the stockers

dunno on top of my head but there have been a few threads regarding this with the appropriate P/N info. You need to look for an injector that will flow close to what you need at 49psi - make sure you figure out the flow based on the specs as they are rated at different pressure (some are at 43.5, some at 39) - there was another member (mystangt or something like that) found some ford injectors that were close to the required flow, so do a search for his posts related to injectors and give that a read.

There is the link to the FAQ section that explains all about the different injectors for different Jeeps. Jeffy and others collaborated on a great write up.

been a long time since ive seen a write up that in depth

send a PM to mystang (he's also got his email in one of the Garage Sales ads) and ask him about the injectors he found - they were like $35 or so and from what i remember were slightly higher flow than stockers - he didn't buy them as he got a set of OEMs so he might hook you up with the person that had them for sale - if you get them and install them make sure you report back here with results :)

Let me know what you are going to do with the Injectors, I have been looking to do this mod here shortly.
1994 Jeep Wrangler, 2.5L, automatic, 2.5" lift, 4:88 gearing, 33" tires, 2.5" exhaust from manifold back, air restrictor removed.

they're up fer sale to whoever wants them
i got the set of 8 but there are 2 or 3 that are missing parts, like o rings, the rubber tips around the nozzle
