Why not keep it simple and carry a spare or two?

I think it would be better to just bring some spares instead of wiring a bunch of solenoids together.  The solenoid box wouldn't be huge otherwise.  Typically you only need one spare anyway as only one usually goes out.  You can wire require the solenoid so you can run on one if you have to.  Having a spare would allow you to keep both forward and reverse functions though.

It takes time to repair things.  Greater reliability means more time for jeeping!

You start making things overcomplicated when you're making backups for the backups though.

Better off with these: (basically 4 of the new style 8274 solenoids)

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360136929880&crlp=1_263602_263622&ff4=263602_263622&viewitem=&guid=ae84c12e1230a04378264b46ffec016b&rvr_id=&ua=%3F*I7&itemid=360136929880

That golf cart solonoid is only good for 100 Amps.  The stock setup is 2 solonoids on each side that are rated for 100 amps each.  You are cutting your rating in half with those.  Those would be fine for a small winch but I wouldn't run an 8274 through them for long (unless you use 4)

Hey oldjep. Those require the new plate they mount to. $170 for that not including the solenoids. Thats what I am trying to avoid. The big $$$

You don't need a new plate, just a drill and some work.

Yes.   I'll have to see if I took any pictures when I did mine.  As I recall I had to drill new holes for the solenoids and then take the copper bars and re bend them to fit the front mount configuration.  It's not rocket science, but if you're uncomfortable with that sort of stuff then just get 4 of the old style solenoids from someone other than warn.
