Basically I think mine is ulgy and I am pretty short so really no chance of hitting my head on it, however it I were to roll and it slams into my head that is a different story.  Mine doesn't have zippers, etc... Solid piece so I would have to but the thing off.

I had a Bestop wrap and liked it but had to remove it when I installed the full cage.  The Bestops has zippered seams so they were easy to install.  The stock front supports are slip-on and I can't use them with the front cage.  So the main hoop is bare and I have the stock covers on the rear supports.  Having them above you and and passengers is a good idea.

hvac thermo isolating tubes - they have a cut on the length but have scotch tape like sticky stuff on the length of the cut - you can wrap it around your rollbar and remove the protective tape to have it stick on itself. i got some of it at home depot for my softtop bars, not sure if they have something as thick as the rollbar but an HVAC industrial shop will for sure - looks very good once sticks on itself but you need to line up the edges carefully - you wouldn't be able to tell is not stock. fairly cheap too from what i remember, something like $7 for a 10' piece and it's charcoal colored.

That's what I did. I then wrapped the foam tubes with electrical tape. It comes in a variety of colors. I went with black.

Electrical tape wraps are so 70's.    That was common back then bit seem to have died off in the 90's and later.

that's what we use to wrap the roll bars on our willys, makes it easy to repair when a tree branch pics a fight with the roll-bar.

If you want good protection then get the SFI stuff from Summit Racing, Jegs, Etc.  The offset stuff will fit inside the stock covers but puts more pad where you need it.  Otherwise if you go without the covers you can get the SFI padding that just sticks or zip ties to the tube.

Isn't that SFI stuff meant for use with helmets? Seems like the plumbing wrap would be less dense and better on the noggin.

Actually it looks like the offset is not SFI certified
