FYI there are several options becasue 84/95 was really a 94 box of parts assembled in 95 with whatever jeep felt like using. My 94 has a 96 distributor for instance.

Good luck!

FSM from the faq section will help you with that. if i have time later on i can post a pic or a snap from the FSM (if you're in a hurry download it, i think the connectors are in the 8W section but not 100% on it (the filename contains that 8W suffix)

found the thread..... links didn't work.....

the ignition coil connector has 2 wires, both are 18 gauge - one is Dark Green with an Orange stripe (is the one that comes from the ASD), the other wire is Grey with no stripe and comes from the PCM. the only other connector that has 2 wires on that side of the harness is the alternator field control (driver) that has the same dark green with an orange stripe but the second wire is dark green with no stripe. so you're looking for a 2 wire connector with one of them grey for the ignition coil.

this should suffice to identify the coil connector, hope this helps.

The distributor on the YJ only triggered the fuel injection. The spark was off the crank sensor.
Just wanted to make sure you knew its weird wiring there...

Have you considered the painless YJ WIring kit?

The electrics in the YJ used the ECU to fire the coil, so I'd guess NO. unless you carefully dissect the harness plug for the ECU and adapt it to the V8 computer.. Assuming it has one.. The Painless wiring kit is by far the easiest way to wire a Chevy into a jeep ..

is it a points type or electronic? the cam sensor in the YJ dist is powered at 5v or 8v, can't remember exactly - so you'll need a switched 12v for yours - ASD won't work since it is controlled by the PCM, so some mods on the PDU are needed to use that.

Is this a trail only rig? if thats the case I'd go way different. Just use a generic harness and scrap the YJ wiring.

No Points V8 is legal in any YJ for street use, I know not everybody has smog checking,
but it can really bite you on the rear. I know folks who had thier vehicles impounded in UT
and CA for various DOT violations.

Can you give us a high level description of what you have and where you need to get to?

if it's points you only need 1 switched 12v to the coil and another wire from the coil going to the distributor points connector

heres what i got..... the dist. has just one wire running to it.... it runs thru a switch in the cab.... thats how i turn it on and off (i know..... kinda ghetto) coil and everything built into the dist.  everything else is hooked up pretty good..... the dist. is all i have left....
