You could be right, but it is listed under Explorer on the Ranger Station.
That's where I looked as well.  Maybe they changed it.  I know 4.10's are pretty common on the Explorer 4.0L like the Eddie Bauer.

It's shown in a separate box below Explorer so I assumed it was available. Code - 89 1999 to 2001 4.56C, Code - 89 is also shown 1992 to 1998 for 4.10C.

Realistically you will only find 3.73 and a few 4.10's at the boneyard.

To the OP, your axle shift motor can be permanently engaged by removing one snap ring and moving the fork over, then reinstalling it. Beats messing with a switch until a one piece shaft can be swapped in.

But would'nt that leave the diff and drive shaft spinning all of the time? I figured it would be cool to be able to switch it from inside and have the option of a rear wheel only high gear.

How much are you paying for explorer or ranger diffs? I know it will vary a little but what do you consider fair or average.

It varies a lot depending on where you are.  I've seen them for as low as $200 or as high as $700.
