Topic: Need a new radiator soon

My radiator doesn't leak yet but it doesn't look very good.
I want to replace it before it starts leaking with an aluminum one?
Where is a good place to buy one. I do have a 4 cylinder with an auto trans.

Why aluminum?  Seems like a lot of extra $$$ when the stock ones work fine.

You can get a 2 core aluminum for as much or less then a copper and brass on ebay.  With all of the inexpensive aluminum radiators, it's hard to choose a copper and brass one.

If your radiator fins are all rusted out then it's a good idea to replace it.  Mine would crumble if you touched them.

i think i paid $125 for mine shipped for a 2 core all aluminum with welded tanks off ebay. Stock ones with plastic tanks are about $70 or so new on ebay (or they were that much when i got mine).

Mines all metal with a tranny cooler, the one I pulled out may have had plastic tanks.

That is how mine is. It is not leaking but with summer / hot weather coming I want to
replace it before it starts.

On a similar subject, everyone makes a big deal about number of cores which makes it a bit confusing.  I think I've seen up to 4 cores.  3 cores seem to be popular with copper/brass.  Although 2 core is the norm for most OE radiators.  Aluminum come in 2 core with some offering 3 core.  I would guess that more cores allows for more surface area but then you're using smaller tubes.

I think my original was a 1 core with really wide tubes.  My current one is a 2 core with smaller tubes.

So ebay is the place to get one?  Mine is looking bad too, lots of staining around the metal - plastic contact area...although it seems to work just fine.

$125 for a jeep radiator sounds like a steel compared to the $300 radiator i had to buy for my atv during the winter Polaris must think their parts are made of gold... come to think of it my jeep could use a new radiator.
