for a stock like is $70 which i think is freakin' cheap - they quoted me $220 here at the parts store before i looked on ebay (and good thing i did). comparatively a rad for my camaro was $115 at the same store, have no idea why the difference as the camaro one is bigger, might be the mounting brackets that come with the rad.

most aftermarket radiators are built for all automatic transmissions. they would have a plug for the transmission cooling lines. though i personally would rather bypass it with a large add on cooler

It's good for those who do not have Auto's to get the coolers in case they want to run a cooler for something else, like PS or oil.

For those with an auto, I would still use a radiator cooler WITH an external cooler.  You can't really have too much cooling.

do an extensive search on ebay - there are tons of them on there. I found mine that way, same as the link i posted (2core, 1-1/4'') but it was listed for 91-95 YJ and was only $125 shipped. i spent a good hour looking thru all the listings.

Both Autozone and Advance Auto Parts list the same part number for a 1995 YJ and 1997 TJ radiator for the 2.5 engine.  It looks like there should be no problem.

Now you got me intrigued; so how do you go about using it as an oil cooler?  Do you need to tap the oil pan?  The PS sounds easier... 

I bought mine for about $130 and it does have the auto cooler, but since I am not using it, it would be an interesting project to do now that the Jeep is in Costa Rica and I can work on it (until June, anyway!).  I would prefer to do the oil, but if it's too complicated, I may do the PS.

By the way, on the original subject, I bought mine off eBay, but I think the place I got it from was Radiator Barn or something like that...  AL with welded tanks.  I think it was a single row one, but I dont remember (cant see it on the pics, and I am in Panama until Wednesday while the Jeep is in Costa Rica)...  Here's a Pic of it.

you put an adapter on the oil filter (it is sandwiched between the oil filter and the oil filter mount), it would have 2 fittings coming out of it, 1 feed and 1 return. One problem though is that you want a thermostat on it, those are more expensive - otherwise in the winter you would keep the oil too cold which is not desired. if you do want to do it i suggest using a separate oil rad instead and still use an adapter with a thermostat built in.

Winter in Panama you are talking about 85*; Costa Rica is cooler, and can go down to 65*, but still, not cold...  But I'll see if I can find one for the Jeep; for 30 bucks, it's not a bad idea.  Besides, it should give me one more quart of capacity, which is not bad.

I just ordered the 1 3/4" thick 2 row core.  Is this like the one you got?  Did you have to trim the shroud due to the extra thickness?

yeah, that's the one. The tanks are the same thickness, you don't have to trim anything - the outside dimensions are same as stock, if you look at yours on the engine bay side you'll see that the core only uses 1/2 the tank basically whereas this one would have the core over the whole width almost.

I just got a sandwich type one with thermostat...  I'll hook it up later on.  This with the eFan and DCC controller should keep the engine nice and cool when wheeling on a hot Panamanian day (over 100*).
