Topic: Fuel pressure check question

Ok. Im obviously doing something wrong. Because i have a new pump, the jeep is running, yet my gauge says 0. I have checked the gauge, its ok.

first off you should not tighten that just by hand with your fingers, most likely the valve in there is not getting pressed so there's no pressure past it - is there any gas coming out when you take the hose off?

ya. some gas spills when i take the hose off. Not much. But some.

while its running, i press the valve pin down all the way, and gas dribbles out. I figure much more should come out than just a dribble. ?

Is that a tire pressure gauge?

Its a fuel system pressure checker.

If you think you're getting pressure then you can always remove the schrader valve and try it.

The schrader valve comes off?  If thats the case, i will try that.

just like the tire one, but is not the same - the rubber is fuel resistant, so don't lose it.

Took the valve out. Checked pressure. Problem solved. Thanks. :)

NP!  I'm betting the gauge wasn't pressing the valve all the way down.

Thats what i figured, except when i would use a nail to press the valve all the way down, i would still only get a tiny dribble of gas. Kinda makes me think the valve is fubar'd.

what's the color of the rubber on the valve? should be blue, if it's black might be that somebody replaced it with a tire valve and the rubber swelled so is not releasing anymore.

EDIT: what pressure did you have, and did you remove the vac port when you measured it?
