manual swap

so i'm new here and kinda new to jeeps, i know i'm not the first person who wants to swap a manual trans in the little 4 banger. so i was wondering what exactly i need to do this. i did a little research and know i need an ax-5 and pedals and all that stuff, but what about driveshafts, wiring, computer, crossmember and that stuff, i have looked around but cant find a write up from anyone swapping a manual into an auto and just need some help here. thanks

Flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, bell housing, transmission, transfer case input shaft, two new driveshafts, hydraulic master, pedals, and probably a new PCM.  It should be a direct swap.

Or you could upgrade to a AX-15 or NV3500 but  I am not sure of all the P/N to get the swap. Advance Adapters has a kit to swap in those behind the 2.5 but I am not sure what all comes with the kit.
 What year do you have?

 What year do you have?

from memory

- Dodge Dakota 96-98 4 cyl 2.5L bellhousing
- '86 Camaro 4 cyl clutch disk
- Jeep 2.5L 4 cyl flywheel, pressure plate (both used, if they're new the clutch won't release), clutch release bearing
- Advance Adapters pilot bushing (i think is listed for NV4500 or something like that) in case it's an NV3550 (not sure for AX15, i think the input shaft is smaller in AX15's case).
- custom made clutch slave pushrod (needs to be longer,
- maybe 23 spline t-case input shaft (not sure what's on his auto).

plus all the ones Jeffy listed as per replacing the auto with an AX-5

I forgot about the 23 VS. 21 spline. The easiest would be the AX-5.

I am a stick shift guy so I don't mind if someone wants to yank out the auto and replace it with a stick. Normally it's the other way around.

i'm bored of the auto, doin 70-75 down the parkway its sitting at like 3500rpm, its not happy haha.

now because its an OBD1 vehicle , do i need to swap over the ECU?

you don't like it b/c 3500 is too high or too low?

you don't need to swap the PCM

Actually, the engine is fine running at that RPM.  It's high if you're just cruising but normal for a 3-speed and the engine is in the middle of it's power band.

3500 isnt to high, my jeeps like a honda...it loves bouncing rev limiter haha, i'm just bored out the auto, dumped to much money into my other truck, so the jeeps been sitting for about 2 years and didnt do much to it so i figured i would start a new money pit. just wanna put the 5 speed in it and do 4 inches on 33's
