Ouch!  not the best driving I have seen, though, but I would not have expected the little jump to cause such a huge problem...

A 'good' axle doesn't fix 'stupid'.

That 'little' jump wasn't little.  He was really on the throttle and didn't let off when he was in the air.  I'd guess 3-4000 RPM.  With the slope and ALL of the weight going onto the axle as it's spinning, he's just asking for it to break.

If you watch it again you can she his front axle shifts rearward at impact and then shoots the jeep strait up. he is lucky it didn't just stop him dead or worse have the front end go head over tea kettle.

I hate wheeling with guys who do this constant.  I have a few that always have something to prove and i don't wheel with them anymore.

Also true, but I think he must have had stock axles for the rear one to pop that fast.

It was a Dana 35c or maybe a D44A in any case unless he had a 9 or a 60 he's be spitting out axles. And even then it's still not a sure bet.

Told those guys I could bust the rear end and roll that Grand Cherokee in one go.  The dollars I won in the bet paid for the flight back from Czechoslovakia, too.    :biggrin:

Actually, I don't think you're far off from the sound of the comments being made.  It seems the owner has a shop or at least a few more jeeps.

How do you know this?

For anybody considering airing their jeep out, I've rebuilt many transfer cases from jeeps that had been jumped.  One axle lands first and the spinning wheels stop quickly, while inertia keeps the wheels on the axle in the air spinning.  The weak point between the two axles is often the transfer case mainshaft right at the speedo gear.
