What are we talking about?  How wide are the tires?...

A lack of tire coverage is not illegal in every State, check your local laws.  If you're referring to a TJ, 33"s will fit with a budget boost as long as you keep it on the road.

Yes it's a TJ and either 10.50 or 11.50 inches wide. With the 4.11's what kind of AT's would work best, should I aim for something really light like Rugged Trail level tread or heavier like KM2 or MUD ROVER. I use my jeep to get to class, and work and spend a little time on the highway. On top of offroad use.

i had A/Ts in 31s and was not happy with them, found them to be really scary in the rain and not much help in the snow, got BFG M/Ts and was much better. didn't find them too noisy on the hwy either, but i have a softtop (so the Jeep was noisy to begin with)

Sweet, I heard that some of the cheaper offroad tires suck in the rain like the Dunlop Mud Rover

If you choose the right backspacing skinny 33's will fit under the stock flares.  Now if you're removing them then they will stick out a minimum of 2.5-3".  With standard 3.75" backspacing, you're looking at 4-5" sticking out. (looks dumb without much lift. Not to mention harder on wheel bearings.)

i hated it with 31x10.5, personal preference probably but loved it with 33x12.5. Next i'll give it a shot with 35s, that's probably going to be less hot wheels lookalike with the bit taller tires (you're right about that one).

Not stock.  Not cheap either.  :hitit:  I don't believe anyone makes a 'skinny' 32"  32's usually come in 32x11.5R15.  33's come in 33x10.5R15 or 33x9.5R15.  31's come in 31x10.5R15 or there is a 31x12.5R15 that BFG makes but it makes your Jeep look like a Rollerskate.

I think they're 35's.  I'm sure the suspension isn't 100% stock.
