you should look for a complete package, some of the ones on ebay that are between $500 and $1000 don't have the turbo and the throttle body and are also missing the accessories. For the computer and harness you need to make sure is for the engine also (different years would be a guess if it works or not).

I know I have read the tourque limits of the AX5 somewhere, but does anyone have them handy to compare to the tourqe output of the TDI? Also does anyone have possible figures of what that TDI can do with some tweaking, maybe bigger injectors or chiping the computer. (assumming you get the elecronic injection pump style) I would love to do this when my squirrels kick the bucket. the Veggie jeep.  :doggy:

Have a Alhambra minivan with the VW 2.0 TDI, it is even called ecomotive.
It delivers 140+ HP with 310 Nm torque, get with the 1600 kg minivan 42 MPG

If you can find a GTD from a VW Golf, it has 170 HP with 340 Nm Torque (251 LBS/Ft)

I have been driving these diesels for over 12 years now and I like them a lot, more than the CDI's and HDI's from French manufacturors.

so whats a realistic price range to get this rolling without the price of the kit?
