Saw this on another forum.  Looks like they're undercutting AA but a huge margin.

I talked to Tony and he said they have 21, 23 and 32 splines ready.  Seems like a really good price.  A Rubicon Tcase costs about as much.

Not quite the 3-speed but still a good deal none the less.  Oh and the 3-speed comes in 21 spline also.

well competetion is good. so would you buy, an atlas, rubicon(241OR?) or this new stak?  i was thinking the rubicon would be swell if it was a direct bolt in but i think i read somewheres that the ax5 has a diff spline count output shaft than what the rubicon would come with?

I would go with a Stak.  Here's why;  the Stak will give you full control of the transfer case.  This means you'll get one stick that controls high and low gears.  The other still will control 2wd or 4wd.

Also, from the looks of it you might be able to upgrade to the 3-speed Stak, which would be nice.

As for the spline count check out the FAQ for the NVG231.  It will explain the differences.

well i checked out the FAQ and that only seemed to cofuse me more. i guess i dont really have a clue, but i assumed my 95 witha 2.5 came with a ax5. it would be swell to uprade to something like a stak or atlas.  whenever my piggy bank explodes from too many pennies i would like to get axles, transfer case, and driveshafts done in one brutal session.

The STaK 2 spd isn't available in a 3:8 yet only a 4:3 ratio. Atlas has both. Atlas also charges $100 to upgrade the front output shaft. STaK offers the big shaft as standard. I have 33s and 4:10 in mine. Any input as to which ratio would be better for serious trailing and moderate rock crawling?

Lower is almost always better.  ALthough on the mild stuff you'll wish you have 2.72 again.  I'd go with the 5.44:1.
