Discovered this today. After hearing a weird noise develop a few days ago



Don't ask me how I didn't catch it right away... Because I don't have an answer
I almost went to Tahoe for new years. Thankfully I didn't

Ordering new front leafs tomorrow during my lunch break
Figure if I order them in store at 4WP, they can have them here by Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday

Judging by all of the rust, it's been like that for a while.
It's been like 3-4 days maybe? I don't know how I never picked up on it. Or bothered to check. I just happened to notice my RF shackle angle was way off this morning and after further inspection I saw the break...
Sucks, but oh well. I wanted to ditch the Rough Country springs up front for a while and now I had a good excuse

have it replaced under warranty then sell them.

Ive had a couple break mid way between shackle and axle, and one under
the axle the secondary leaf broke, I think its an axle wrap issue.

?? Who knows, vendor replaced them for free... But that's been a couple ish years back...

Soft leafs will tend to bend at that point.  I know my SOA bends there as well.

Things don't rust as fast in CA.  You can see where it held on if you look at the pic carefully.

It's amazing how a leaf spring suspension can keep working well enough to drive around with a break like that!

It looks like the spring clip could have caused the leaf to bend at that point when drooping.  Might be good to open up the spring clips on your next set of leaves.

You didn't have any steering issues, tire rubbing, etc?

Can see the tire contact the spring clamp. That thing looks really tight. To get a smoother ride, loose the clamp and let the leaves slide against each other without force on them. You can turn that clamp upward into a 'U' and still have its main purpose, to keep the leaves in alignment.

Good point on the spring clamp.  I'm sure that didn't help.
