Elect fan Conversion

  I have the Taurus Fan coming in.  Do not really have the time to search salvage yards during the day.  So went with EBAY.  Found a Spot on the web that had a great write up on the conversion and they recommended this controller.

But they are taking their time sending out the controller.  Has anybody used one with this description.  Will post the link to It in a minute.

you should go with the variable speed one though, much better (unless you ordered it already).

People have used it and you'll generally get a bit more good reviews then bad ones.

Although, expect to wait a bit as the guy builds them as the orders come in.  Really all you need would be the low-speed circuit as the fan pushes some serious CFM's even in low-speed.

I'm just using a Flex-a-lite fan thermostat and a 45A relay on the low-speed circuit since it's cheap, KISS and works well.

i sent him an email 3 weeks ago with some questions and never got an answer, so you're not alone.

I emailed him a few times and never got any response.  He might make a good product but his customer service sucks.  Although, I've heard some some people having issues with his controller as well.  The only feature I like about his controller is the pulse width modulation you get.

I got my controller from him about 4 or 5 years ago.  The controller died about 4 or 5 months ago, so I ordered a new one about 2 weeks ago.  Same as you, not a word from him...  It took a while for the first time to get the controller, so I am being patient with this order...  You can make your own 2 speed controller with two releays and a sensor thermostat, as well as the 2 speeds, but you can also do what Jeffy is suggesting.

it won't, more like 1 month from when you paid (and i'm being optimistic).

You can always do what I did...  I used a 3 position switch, and connected the IGN signal to that swith.  You also have to get a 40A fuse holder (Maxi Fuse will do the trick) and a 30A Bosch relay (the one with the 97a option).  What you do is you now have the option for ON (using the relay and the low speed positive, regardless of temperature, which is the best option for wheeling), AUTO (using the DCC unit, which is the best option for daily use), or OFF (neither unit working; it's a good option to have for river fording and deep mud holes).

Now, also, if the DCC unit ever fails, you have a plan B.  And you can use the Plan B while the DC controlelr arrives (I am actually doing this right now).

I just picked up an electric fan today from a 94 sable with the 3.8L.  I am going to order the 79.95 DC Control today as well.  My one question is what do you guys do with the power steering reservoir?  I like it all to look nice and original so dont really want to just zip tie it to something.  Pics are appreciated.  Maybe aftermarket reservoir or something?

I did not move the reservoir with the Ford fan; in fact, I moved it with the Lincoln fan, but not because of the fan but rather because of the thicker Griffin radiator (3" thick instead of 1.5" of the stocker), which caused it to hit the airbox...

It looks like you have a YJ, I guess I should clarify, I have a TJ.  On my 97 2.5L TJ the power steering reservoir connects right onto the clutch fan shroud.  Once I remove the stock shroud I will have nothing to connect it to.    look at the top picture on this link.    http://www.thegreatestdog.com/jeep/_htmpages/onboardair.htm

you can make your own bracket, there was a thread in here for this exact issue - the guy used a pre-drilled angle from home depot and cut a piece to mount his p/s reservoir
