Glad to have been of some help Jeffy. Yeah, I can't drive my jeep now, LOL! I've got a modified 170A Alternator coming hopefully.

Where do you guys access your build sheets? Take your VIN to the Dealer and ask for a build sheet. I don't need a build sheet though, I remember what I got. But since you have a YJ, it's either a 75a or a 90a. You should be able to tell by getting the model number off the back of the alternator.

I put this bad boy on a while back: http://www.quadratec.com/products/55112_50.htmand haven't looked back. It says it bumps it up to 140 amps. I haven't measured but I can run driving lights, aux lights, 400 watt amp, 10" sub, stereo, cigarette lighter, and the kitchen sink with no problems. Just make sure you get the right one. Don't order the one for the v belt when you need one for the serpentine belt and have to wait for forever to get the right one. Cheers.

The thing I don't like about the mean green is that it's overpriced. They've got their name out a long time ago and that's what you're buying. Most starter & alternator rebuilder shops are able to bump up the amp rating of an alternator. It's an old trick. Put more wraps on the armature and that replace the diodes. The only consideration is making sure it fits in the housing. From what I've seen though 136a is one of the highest OEM alternators out there. You can buy it new for around $150 or rebuilt for $80. Probably costs $30 from a Pick N pull. I ended up buying a 170A from a rebuilder on ebay for $95 with a 2 year warranty. The pulley doesn't bother me much since I'm going to have to remove that anyway. I have my OEM 6 groove as well as my OBA V + 6 groove.

I was looking for a new alternator when I put the e-fan on, and there were sevaral on eBay that seemed good enough that i thought about getting. But i decided to try and see if the stock unit was able to handle the load before throwing money at it, and since it has (so far, anyway!) I am sticking to that one until it bites the dust. When I do upgrade, though, I plan to go more or less the same route as Jeffy, with a 170A one... Felipe
