When did Dana start direct sales?
« on: November 04, 2014, 11:24:55 PM »
I didn't know they started direct sales.  They have some blank housings with shafts and gears as well as some complete bolt-on axles for the JK.  Looks like the axles are mainly for the Jeeps.  The D44 is 58.4" and the D60 is 61.7".  The Ultimate 60 sounds pretty good though there is no price.

Makes you wonder if the rumors about Jeep moving away from solid axles for the Wrangler are true and that Dana is entering the retail market to compensate?

I think it's more like Dana saw how much money they are missing out on by not selling directly.  I wouldn't mind those 1T JK axles.

If it took them this long to figure that out, I don't hold out much hope for them being successful.

Seems like I stumbled over it before it was officially launched at SEMA.

They are one of the biggest axle makers, they are slow to change/adapt.  A lot of the smaller aftermarket builders aren't around anymore.  I'm sure they noticed how people were buying up the Mopar axles after the fact.  JK Rubicon axles are popular even with the YJ and TJ crowd as well as the JK'ers.  The D44 and the D60's seem to be sized for Jeeps.  The others don't have specs yet but I'd assume that they would be spec'ed for something else.
