my gage has no read line... it just goes yellow... but i never go that high anyways in fear of the motor blowing out on me..

Just follow whichever break-in period you choose.  After breaking it in, just drive it to where it feels natural.

I regularly hit 4,500 to 5,000 on mine, and have since I bought it in 2000.  I've put over 75k mile on it myself, with nary a problem.  Now, I don't hold it at redline for very long.

I'm not saying it can't cause problems, and I'm not warrantying anyone's stuff, but I say the engine is a little rev happy and let it rip.

mine doesn't have a rev limiter.  i built the motor to hold those high rpm's remeber i am running a huge cam and open exhaust plus head work so i run in the higher band all the time

I am also running a completly rebuilt motor with a 470 lift cam from hesco,roller rockers,ported head,header,msd,venom 400,CAI,etc.Bennie from hesco said that the factory computer has a rev limiter at 5250 mine cuts out at 5500 but my tach could be off.YJmechanic what year is your jeep?
