I have that 8.8 that has the disc brakes and my question is do I need a different master cylinder or a proportioning valve? thanks  Mike

You don't 'need' them, but I think some have reported improved braking with them.  I'm researching them now for my 4whl discs.  Both my YJ and MJ braked well after converting the rear to disc.

I've heard pf people taking out the pill that regulates the proportioning valve to get 50/50 brake pressure with disc brakes.  You might find that you want to upgrade the master cylinder anyway though.  I'd like to eventually convert mine to hydroboost.  My brakes aren't bad but they could be better.

I've done the swap with a disc brake 8.8 and didn't need anything more. Even the stock rear ds fits with a flange yoke for the axle pinion end. I still have room at the tcase for compression with the stock slip yoke.

On my YJ, I removed the seal in the prop valve and replaced the master cylinder with one from a 78 mercury marquis.   Stopping power is amazing.
