Yeah it's a diesel.  There's no way you could get a gas engine to do that without some major work.

I wish the Wranglers came with diesel as an option. If they did I would convert to fryer oil. I read an article this past month on how they are installed and how they work. There are plenty of restaurants in my area that would be more than happy to let me have the used oil.

my roommate drives a mercede's he's converted... lot's of work... but very cool none the less...

A friend of mine also converted a Mercedes. The older ones along with older V.W.'s are very popular conversion wise. I've read over the instruction manual that comes with the kit and it doesn't seem very complicated. Diesel/grease is definitely the way to go as far as off road use is concerned... imo.

Why not start a home business to convert the oil and sell it as an alternative fuel to someone who drives a diesel. Isn't it only $1200 investment to start to 'brew' your own fuel?

Not sure how much the filter/treatment kits cost. I've thought about the fryer oil business but I only know of 3 people who run an oil converted car in my area.
