  A few months after I paid off my Jeep, my muffler blew up.  I'd been having ignition coil problems, and some (well, probably a lot) unburned fuel must have made it out my exhaust ports.  I was turning into my street with my wife in the passenger seat when there was a huge BANG like a high powered rifle.  Lucky she was strapped in or she might have ripped the soft top off she jumped so hard.  It was so hilarious, she was freaking out.  I could hear my now insanely loud exhaust so I knew what happened, but I just started laughing my fool head off.  I still remember the look on her face.  "What the heck was that?  And what the f*** are you laughing at??!!"  Next day my dad took it to the local redneck [censored] exhaust shop and had them weld on a $20 cherry bomb glasspack with the stock tailpipe.  Love the sound and it pi**es the ricers off when I rev it and drown out their awful exhaust noise.

 I think flowmaster is the best for the 4banger, it reduced my back pressure and sounds nice for a 21 year old punk like me.

Free up the exhaust too much and you'll lose low-end torque for high end horse power.

My exhaust got a lot quieter when I switched ignitions. 

Interesting. I would find that hard to believe, but I switched to a Performance Distributors ignitions set up (thanks to you) and my exhaust is considerably quieter also. I thought I was just loosing my hearing.  :lol:

I think it's probably just running smooth with less puffs and barks.

Have a flowmaster single in dual out.   Been on for about 4 years so don't remember the model, but was from their quietest line at the time.  It's on a comanche and I have turned down tips so it has a nice healthy sound since the sound resonates off the ground.  People are surprised its a 4 banger. Before adding some insulation behind the seat on back of cab, the echo from the bed that has a tonneau cover was too loud in the cab. Much better now.

I just recently replaced the entire ezhaust on my 1997 TJ. I installed the Banks Header, added a Magnaflow CarSound Cat with Front Pipe, Walker Muffler and Tailpipe and replaced both O2 Sensors. Everything seems to work well, I went with the Walker as a short-term fix since I am planning on replacing the muffler with a better unit after I upgrade to a RE 3.5 SF this spring.

the exhaust on mine is a replica stock that the old owner had installed after the first muffler blew out and it was so loud that it was heard inside buildings. but i think the current muffler has some damage to it cuz its louder than stock. but i kinda like the sound and there have been a hand full of times that i got a ricer next to me to think that my jeep is way faster than there car (they said it not me).. keep i mind i did this when im in the turn lane so that that don't get to see how much of a dog it is.

I think that my Flowmaster 60 is too loud.   I find that the older I get, the quieter I want my exhaust.

Looks like I might be on my 4th muffler.  This time I'm trying to get the whole cat-back replaced under warranty.  My exhaust is missing all of the hangers and not only that but after the rear makeshift hanger I made loosened, the exhaust decided to break off the frame mounted hanger as well.  So, I emailed Borla.  I'm hoping to get something back from them next week.  Then I've got to get someone to weld the stock bracket back together.  Even having to replace parts of my exhaust, it still beats having to shell out $3-400 each time.  I do have to ship back the broken parts but that's under $20.  I've had my Borla since 1996.
