Topic: Sprayed a Jeep interior with Scorpion over the weekend

I do plan on lining my interior and hope to git 'er done this summer. But of course, I'll be reinstalling carpet over mine, I like carpet  At least that way, I can pull it up before I go wheelin' and rinse it out when I get back.

That's what I want to do; lining and carpet.  For everyday use, it should improve the soundproofing of the Jeep, which togethe with the hardtop, should make it quite civilized.  But for offroading, out comes the carpet, and now you got some protection from the elements fr your interior...

I have some questions;  How thick is the application?  I would assume it's hard like Lavaliner and not like Rhinoliner.  Does it apply thin on each pass like paint or thicker?  Have any Macro picts of it so we can get a better idea of the texture?  How good are the sound deadening qualities?  Have you done any db testing? Samples?

It is about 1/8-1/4" thick. I don't have any experience with Lavaliner, but it is harder than Rhinoliner. It still has a bit of give. It is thicker than paint. Basically I lay on one thick coat up close to get all the coverage, and then I spray a bunch of different coats over the surface to built texture and thickness. It is really good at sound deadening, but I don't have any dB tests. I should have done them on this Jeep, but I didn't think about it till after the fact.

I've got another question to add to the pile.

How flexible is the stuff?  Will it adhere to JB weld?  I've got some holes in the body that I need to fill in and welding it s PITA.

Also, if I bolt something on top of the stuff will it pull up if I remove it later?

It is flexible, it has a bit of give so it can be sprayed on plastics (just not the hard smooth ABS-style plastics). More or less, it'll move with what you need it to, but it'll adhere to what you spray it on. If that makes any sense at all. It will adhere to JB weld, I'd just prep it like I would regular metal.

If you let it cure for a week or so and then bolt to it, it won't pull it up. It takes about a week to reach full cure hardness. Bolting it to it earlier than that really can compromise the adhesion.
