I was looking at the Marlin forum and found these threads.

The only problem if you run the toy T-case(s) is the need to swap in a pass drop front axle. But they do offer a "lefty" version of the cases for the driver drop front axle.

Not sure if the toy tranny's are more durable than the AX5 or not, but it's another option.

kinda just sounds like the toy case is an ax15,  and you can get them out of most 4.0 5spd jeeps

Actually, the Jeep AX5 is the same as a Toyota G54 or G58 transmission.
If your AX5 is a 1984-1988 model, then it is the G54.
If your AX5 is a 1989-2000 model, then it is the G58

The AX5 tail-components are completely interchangeable with the G-series transmission.

This will keep the 231 T-case.

Lots of work for something that does the same job as a Klune V.  ($1499 and $1799.)  They mention you need to swap out the input shaft to get it to work with the Jeep.  You can reuse the Jeep's clutch with the Toy's pressure plate.  The crawler box would them bolt to the G54/8.  You would need to run a Toyota transfer case to use the Marlin, if I understand things correctly.

The Aisin AX-5 is basically the Toyota G54/8.  Aisin Seiki Co., Ltd is a subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corp.

Any idea if the G54/8 has the same problems as the AX5 as in syncro's going south?
The Toyota T-cases need to be used to get pretty good gearing,I like the idea of running the Toyota stuff since it's all gears, and they are fairly large gears at that. Pretty good choices to 2.28 (useless, but good as a doubler) 4.0 and 4.7.
It would be alot of work and as you pointed out spendy. Not to mention I would imagine your center console would need to go to make room for the rear T-case shifter.

Did you see Marlins sig? He is running 3 T-cases and has a crawl ratio low of 1372:1 :yikes: Talk about bragging rights!
