Yes, although I do have it wired for a computer.  I found that with the limited power band of the 2.5L that I prefered deciding where the shifts should be.

Can I mod the 3spd in my tj to do this?

02 2.5.L automatic: 4.0L t.b., 4.0l air intake, K&N filter, Scream'n Demon coil, 8.5mm MSD Super Conductor plug wires, Stage 1 Jet Chip, 29" BFG all terrain KO's. Taurus E-fan, Hummer front bumper, Skyjacker high capacity trans pan, 48" hi-lift, Rubi susp w. 3/4" BB.

I don't believe anyone makes a manual shift body for the TF904/30RH.  I think I looked it up for someone before.

As far as doing what I did with my AW4 - no, because there's no computer in a 904.

You would have to check with the manuafacturer to be sure, but there are a lot of 904 full manual valve bodies.  the TF904 is a common transmission used in drag cars and shares a lot of parts in common with the tf727

Here's one that might work, but I'd check with the manufacturer for an application list.

Thanks Jeffy. It was probably me you looked it up for. Damn short term memory. :brick:

TF-904 is a nice transmission.
Shift kits and manual valve bodies are readily available.

The only downfall to a TF-904 behind a 2.5 Jeep is that the jump from 2nd to 3rd is a big one. I often find with steep grades that in 3rd it lugs and 2nd is revving too high.

I have 2 1995 2.5 YJs, one auto with 4.56s on 33s, one 5-speed that is stock.

The auto is an awesome rock crawler that can hang with much bigger rigs, but bogs on grades.
The 5-speed is a race car in comparison.

Ah, cool, so there are manual valve bodies.  Now that I think I about it, I probably did see one before.   :roflol:

What ia a good price for one of these trannys? I found one on car-part.com with 25,000 miles in VA for $1000 but can they be had for cheaper? and will any year 97-2006 30RH swap in with no problems as long as i can get the flex plate and mounting plate and do i still need to upgrade the t-case from 21 to 23 spine if it comes out of another 4 cylinder jeep?

$1000??   I wouldn't pay more than $300 and that would be if I wanted one really fast.
