high oil gauge reading??? Maybe a bad sending unit?
« on: August 06, 2008, 01:03:28 PM »
The other day i noticed an extreamly high oil reading . When i start the jeep i goes up till it tacks out very fast then drops to about 20-30 . Then when its warmed up it drives around at about 70 but when i put in the clutch and pull it out of gear it tacks out real fast then drops down to idleing range again

And when i say it tacks fast i mean fast . Almost like a messed up gauge or something ? I dont know anything about gauges or how the oil ones work so ....

Also its a 93 yj with a 4 cl , Changed the oil about 500 miles ago
Also it runns great i notice nothing changeing in the engine no matter what the gauge is doing

Thanks
Alex

Change the oil pressure sender.  It's on the distributor side of the engine block, just in front of it.  Looks like a brass cylinder with one wire going to it.  When mine went out, it would peg with anything over idle.  ???
